Duration: Seasonal (1 to 2 months) or full-time
Context :
For over 30 years, OSI, an international NGO with Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, has been organising scientific holidays for young people aged 7 to 18, Families and Adults (including Seniors) or as part of School Trips (Scientific Discovery Classes). Our unique approach, based on learning science through hands-on research, allows participants to enjoy immersive educational and scientific experiences, ranging from palaeontology to astronomy, robotics, ecology and many other fields.
Position to be filled:
We are looking for enthusiastic Camp Directors and Science Educators to lead science projects with groups of young people. Candidates will work on scientific holiday camps, supervise expeditions and take part in practical, innovative research projects.
Scientific and educational fields:
- Mathematics
- Natural sciences (ethnobotany, primatology, entomology, etc.)
- Computer science, electronics, robotics
- Astronomy, fundamental physics, chemistry
- Drones, electronics, robotics, computing, 3D printers
- Etc
Sports and everyday life
- Climbing, mountaineering, tree climbing, caving, etc.
- Educational management, executive assistant, bursar, health assistant, cook, socio-cultural coordinator, etc.
Your tasks:
- Designing and adapting scientific research projects for young people.
- Supervising educational and leisure activities (sport, culture, games, etc.).
- Ensure the safety and daily management of the group (meals, getting up, going to bed).
- Helping young people to develop their independence and sense of responsibility through cooperative management.
- Take part in meetings before and after the camps (pre-camp and post-camp meetings).
Profile sought:
- Science or engineering student (post-compulsory secondary to postgraduate level).
- Passionate about science (biology, electronics, geology, etc.).
- Leader, educator, teacher or holiday director with proven experience in group management.
- Team spirit, autonomy, open-mindedness and the ability to adapt.
- Strong motivation to work in a natural, isolated environment with a demanding schedule.
- Ability to make a long-term commitment to the association’s projects.
Specific requirements:
- Availability to live on site in isolated locations in the middle of nature.
- Strong motivation and the ability to work intense hours.
- Personal investment in pre- and post-stay activities, including participation in online forums and the publication of articles.
