Scientific outreach is at the heart of our project. Indeed, it is a fun and civic way to complement scientific work.
During various missions, we compile the data we collect and share it with the research community. This allows anyone interested in scientific research, without being directly involved, to stay informed on the latest advancements. In this way, young people, students, and enthusiasts can enrich science through hands-on practice. They can also engage with scientific texts through article-sharing on citizen platforms, particularly on social media. Your actions thus contribute to the advancement of science!
Experimenting with new scientific data collection technologies is an integral part of our camps. Equipment such as digital photography, spectrophotometers, microscopes, and drones are available in our holiday camps. The camps we offer are as varied as the scientific tools at our disposal: observing the total eclipse in the United States in 2017, monitoring cetaceans in Tahiti, or discovering the magnificent snow leopard in Kyrgyzstan are just a few of the activities on our program.
Scientific outreach can take various forms. It might include observing different animal species—birds, insects, reptiles, and mammals—for cataloging purposes. It can also apply to marine biodiversity. Outreach can be extended to geology thanks to the development of satellite technologies, which have become more accessible with the rise of drones (geo-referencing), and even to astronomy through sky mapping (detection of exoplanets and near-Earth objects). The possibilities are numerous and simply waiting to be seized.
