Abstract
Participatory research Participatory Research see : http://www.voyages-scientifiques.com involves research projects carried out by non-scientists, where anyone can contribute, even without prior expertise. This approach fosters scientific education, critical reasoning and a connection with nature, all of which are essential for sustainable development. In the face of extremism and environmental challenges, it encourages citizens to take responsibility and become autonomous, turning them into agents of change.
Participatory science strengthens government policies by involving citizens in identifying and solving problems. This bottom-up approach facilitates the implementation of policies and guarantees ongoing long-term support. In addition, the benefits of participatory science go beyond research, promoting equality, social inclusion, responsibility and adaptability, and can make a significant contribution to sustainable development and peace, both locally and globally.
All systemic levels of a country or region, from the smallest local community to the largest metropolises and provinces, states and United Nations agencies and programmes can benefit from participatory science to achieve their objectives more effectively, whether UNESCO, UNDP, UN Women, UNICEF or other organisations, because it fosters citizen engagement and understanding, thereby enhancing the impact of initiatives in the long term.
An initial presentation giving concrete illustrations will give rise to discussions which will be launched rapidly, in order to encourage horizontal debates between all the players, students, journalists, etc. present in the audience.
