Microsoft OSI Cloud User
- As a member of this computer system, you have access to the latest versions of Office both online (Office365) and installed on a device. This device can be a PC (Apple or Windows) or a smartphone/tablet (Android/Windows/Apple).
It is possible to install your Microsoft OSI cloud account along with accompanying software up to 3 or 5 times on different types of devices.
However, please keep the following instructions in mind:- You must uninstall any other version in use aside from Office365 before installing it, to avoid permanently blocking the computer, or in some cases, needing to reformat the machine. (If you uninstall to enable installation, you will retrieve ALL your documents since this version is superior to previous versions—responsibility for any unsaved element loss, including bookmarks, contact accounts, email signatures, etc., remains yours.)
- If you ALREADY have a version of Office365 installed but it is less comprehensive, you must also uninstall it before installing the new one.
- If you ALREADY have the full version, you do not need to uninstall or install anything; you only need to create another session in the case of a computer and log in from this other session with your OSI account user.
In the same way that it is strongly recommended (if not absolutely necessary) that an existing organization taking on an OSI mandate creates a separate department within its current structure to integrate collaboration with OSI, the same applies to devices: using two cloud accounts (personal or another professional, and OSI professional) in a single session can cause issues and collaboration delays. For example, you may not see shared documents simply because you are looking at the other account’s shared file. The best solution is to have two separate sessions, with one dedicated to OSI activities.
Specifically, what steps to take:
With your workstation license in OSI, you are entitled to at least 3 devices.
On your laptop, right-click the Windows icon in the bottom left and go to “Programs and Features.”
There, uninstall the versions of Microsoft Office that came with your machine; otherwise, you may encounter issues when installing the OSI workstation version, which is much larger (OSI’s Office 365 distribution includes everything).
In the case of a brand-new computer, you must first update Windows on the computer, even if this requires multiple restarts.
Also, first uninstall all software you do not wish to keep, which is pre-installed by default (such as antivirus software from a different brand than one you have already licensed), and install any software you prefer (like the antivirus you are accustomed to and already have licensed).
Next, right-click the Windows icon in the bottom left, go to “System,” and in the “System” links package, click on “View amount of RAM and processor speed.”
Check if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit.
Then go to http://portal.microsoftonline.com with your new device, log in with your email address and password.
Click on Install Office 365. Choose the 32-bit or 64-bit version according to your computer.
